Forthcoming conferences in Health and Biomedical Informatics

Thanks to the up-to-date and very helpful IMIA News Bulletin (http://imianews.wordpress.com/), an e-newsletter prepared by Dr. Peter Murray, IMIA CEO, we learn periodically about the latest and forthcoming scientific events in Health and Biomedical Informatics. Several of the most important events at the international level have announced or are very close to open the Call for submissions. This is a selection of major conferences in this area. HaBIC will have an important presence in many of them through our participation in Scientific or Steering Committees or by presenting our work in panels, oral presentations or posters.

HIC 2014 – Melbourne, Australia; 11-14 August

HISA’s annual Health Informatics Conference (HIC) is being held in Victoria at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, on 11–14 August 2014. 
 
With the primary theme of Investing in e-health: People, knowledge and technology for a healthy future the conference will focus on investing in e-health, improving the climate for investment and innovation in e-health, strategic opportunities and where to for Australia. Keynote presenters include patient advocate Regina Holliday, medical futurist Berci Mesko, and Danny Sands together with e-patient Dave deBronkart on the patient-physician relationship. Associated events address, among other themes, nursing informatics, indigenous informatics, and participatory health.

HaBIC staff has been involved in the organization of the conference. Prof Fernando Martin-Sanchez Co-chairs the Scientific Program Committee, is a member of the Steering Committee and chairs the Participatory Health conference.

Dr Kathleen Gray, senior research Fellow at HaBIC, will take part as a panelist in both the Participatory Health and the main HIC programme.

The scientific programme also includes several papers prepared by Centre’s staff that will be presented in oral communication sessions.

25th European Medical Informatics Conference MIE2014 – Istanbul, Turkey; 31 August – 03 September

Medinfo2015 – XV World Conference in HEalth and Biomedical Informatics – Call for Submissions Dates

Medinfo2015 will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 19-23 August, 2015. Information is continuously updated at www.medinfo2015.org

MIE2015, the 26th European Medical Informatics Conference, will be held in Madrid, Spain on 27-29 May, 2015.

The conference theme will be “Digital healthcare empowering Europeans”. Key dates and the opening of the Call for Submissions are available at http://www.mie2015.es/MainDates.html The closing dates for submissions will be 01 November 2014 (papers and posters) and 15 November for workshops, panels, etc.
